Dear Sis,
A few lines to let you know that I received word, through the Commanding Officer, about Dad last night. I received Laura’s letter just a few minutes before then and it came as quite a shock, for the last that I had heard he was in the best health. When you are so far away it doesn’t seem as if it is really true, I would have liked to have been home though. Although, I am pleased to hear that he didn’t suffer much and that Laura was thoughtful enough to send some flowers for me. Well, there is not really much to say, so, hoping that you are all well as this leaves me fine. I will close for now. Hoping to see you soon.
Love, Allan
P.S. I would like Mother’s clear glass water set and some enlarged pictures that were taken by the rock garden, saved for me, as Mother said they were for me when Dad was through with them. Allan
