From Wallaceburg, ON. the son of Owen Hugh Zavitz and Eva L. (nee Taylor), brother of Martha Isobel. Father of Scott Zavitz.
Ted joined the RCNVR at HMCS Hunter, Windsor, ON. in April of 1944 at the age of 17 ½ years old. He trained as a Telegrapher/1st Class and served on the minesweeper HMCS Wiinnipeg and did convoy duty in the north Atlantic until the wars end in May 1945. He was Honourably discharged from the Navy 12/12/1945, receiving the Atlantic Star, CVSM & Clasp and the War Medal. (P) courtesy of Scott Zavitz, WHS-RH, WHSSC.
