Born 20 May, 1919 in Ridgetown, ON. He enlisted in the Army 10/01/1941, transferred to the RCAF 11/02/1941.  The son of Ernest and Olive Youngs of 132 Emma St., Chatham.

Douglas joined the Army 10 Jan. 1941. He transferred to the RCAF 11 February, 1941. He married Etta in 1942 and they had sons Robert and Richard and a daughter Cinda.

Douglas began his training at the Technical School in St. Thomas, ON. Douglas was reported returning to Quebec City to continue his training after spending Christmas with Mrs. Youngs. CDN 29/12/42.  The CDN 17/04/43 reported that Douglas had been spending a furlough in Chatham with his wife at their home on Dover St. He would return to Moncton, NB.  The CDN 22/04/44 reported that LAC Youngs had returned to the West Coast station after a furlough with his wife and his parents.

He graduated as a LAC (Airframe) and served in Canada at Winnipeg, Montreal Air Stations until his discharge in 1945.

History After Enlistment… Was stationed at various points in Canada and served as a mechanic.

Douglas served as an Alderman for the City of Chatham 1965 to 1966 until his death.

Douglas passed away 30 June, 1966.
