Pte. E.Roy Young embarked for overseas March 28th, 1917, with the 186th Battalion, being promoted to Sergeant Cook of Longmoor Ranges. He received his certificate July 17th, 1917, from the Canadian School of Cookery, after a course there, returning to Longmoor Ranges until the winter, when he reverted to the ranks to train at Bramshott Camp for France.
