It was a painful duty for Mr. D. S. Aitken to inform Mrs. Robert Woolner, a member of the Canadian Bank of Commerce in Chatham that on Saturday that her husband, serving in the RCAF was reported missing after engaging in operations over Germany.
The news was received by Robert’s father at Ayr and conveyed to Mr. Aitken, Roberts wife left to be with her father-in-law. It is believed that Robert and his wife were married about a year ago very close to the day the new of him being MIA was received. CDN 13/07/42
