Motivated by her sister Ester enlisted in the RCAF(WD) and was reported leaving for RCAF Rockcliffe where she will receive her basic training. She will be the second Walaceburg young woman to enlist. CDN 29/06/42

The WN 13/08/42 reported that AW2 Woodward was home from RCAF-Dunnville to visit with family. In September of 1942 was reported home Easter was on a week-end leave. WN 19/09/42  The WN 12/11/42 reported that AW1 Ester was still stationed at Dunnville, ON. Still at RCAF-Dunnville when she and sister Audrey were home for Christmas.

The WN 30/09/43 reported that LAW Woodward had “enjoyed a visit” with her parents before returning to RCAF-Dunnville. 

The WN 30/11/44 reported that Audrey and Ester were at their parents home while on leave Ester from RCAF Trenton and Audrey from RCAF Christie St. Hospital, Toronto.
