Melvin was reported on a week-end leave to visit his parents and his brother Sgt.(P) Jack Edward R197003 RCAF who was home on a fourteen day furlough. CDN 22/02/44.

The CDN 6/04/44 reported that his brother and he were home to visit his parents before he had to return to Kingston, ON.

Was shown in a CDN article [CDN 23/05/44], with his brother Jack Edward RCAF. Melvin was serving in the RCNVR as a writer. The CDN 23/05/44 “Brothers in the Armed Forces” reported that Melvin was serving in the RCNVR and brother Segt. Pilot Jack Edward was serving overseas.
