Private Wood trained with the 24th Kent Regiment for four years.
He was promoted to Sergeant with the 33rd battalion, and went overseas with a draft from that unit in July 1915, crossing to France in a short time attached to the 1st battalion.
He received wounds in the head and was admitted to hospital for two months but returned to his battalion in Sept. 1916.
He as killed in action Sept. 23rd.
