Padre Wood was a veteran of the Great War where he received a Military Medal. It was reported that he returned to Chatham from overseas in WWII in March of 1945 after serving in England, France and Belgium. He continued to serve in No. 4 Canadian Infantry Battalion (Chatham) since he returned to Canada. KCFA 18/10/45.
