Everett G. Winter served three years in the 24th Kent Regiment under the Late Major George Smith and under the Late Colour Sergeant Fred Sheard.
Everett G. Winter was sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio, as Private in the Medical Department, and later worked at paper work at the 2nd Officers’ Training School. In August 1917, he was sent to Fort Riley, Kan. to the Medical Officers’ Training Camp, and promoted Private First Class, September 3rd, 1917. He was then sent to Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, to do paper work in the office of Colonel Halloran, Division Surgeon, 90th Division, and later attached as Company Clerk to the Medical Detachment of the 360th Infantry Regiment. January 5th, 1918, he was accepted at the 3rd Officers’ Training School, successfully completed the course, and April 19th, 1918, was recommended as 2nd Lieutenant Infantry. He was promoted 2nd Lieut in U.S.Inf June 1st 1918. Promoted to 1st Lieut Aug 1st 1918 and did various duties until finally he was attached to Head Quarters awaiting discharge.
Lieut E.G. Winter was discharged from Camp Dix Dec 24th 1918 due to demobilization.
