Of Gladstone Ave., Chatham, ON. Thomas enlisted as a private in 1940 and received his basic training at No. 12 Basic Training Centre in Chatham when it opened in 1940. He was retained there for two years. He took officers training at Three Rivers, QC. where he was commissioned as a Lieutenant and was posted to St. Luke’s Barracks in Windsor, ON. Thomas was reported promoted to the rank of Captain in September of 1945 and was serving at Woolsley Barracks in London, ON. with the Discharge Wing.
