He was stationed at 5 O.T.U. at Boundary Bay, BC. when he wrote the following letter to the editor of the Blenheim News-Tribune in January, 1945, as follows:
Dear Leonard,
I am a little afraid it will be a few months before I am able to wander down familiar streets of Blenheim and see a few people I know.
I left Lachine and was sent to Vancouver for reposting. I was there over Christmas and had a very nice time over the holiday. Then on the 28th I left for Boundry Bay.
The station here isn’t too bad. We are fairly busy in spite of the rain and fog.
It isn’t as cold here as in Ontario but we not have to shovel our aircraft out of snowdrifts.
I haven’t haven’t heard any news from Blenheim for some time now, but I figure the old town is about the same.
Since coming to Boundry I have met boys from Dresden, Chatham and Windsor so really you always run into someone from near home and usually know someone in common.
I guess I had better close now, thanking you for all your favours of 1944 and wishing you the best of everything in 1945.
Your friend,
Joe.
