John was born in London England on August 20, 1899. His next of kin was his wife, Mrs. Annie (Gurr) Wild and sons James and Stan.
He enlisted in Windsor, Ontario. His address at enlistment was R. R. #1, Blenheim, Ontario. He served in Canada. John’s date of discharge was May 2, 1946 at London, Ontario.

John’s daughter-in-law writes: “John William Wild joined the Veterans Guard of Canada October 14, 1942 at Windsor, Ontario. Their role was to be assigned to the prisoner-of-war camps in Canada to guard the German and other prisoners being sent to Canada. He was stationed at WIndsor, Stratford, Espanola, Bowmanville, Niagara areas, Port Arthur, Neys, North Bay, Centre Lake and Grand Ligne, Quebec. In February 1946 he and other guards accompanied a ship load of prisoners to England. He was discharged May 2, 1946 in London, Ontario. John Wild was in the Royal Navy in Wold War 1 joining at age 15. He was trained as a signalman in both Morse code and flags. He was on the ship “Victory” at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. He was discharged in 1918 at Glasgow, Scotland. John Wild, his wife and three sons immigrated to the Cedar Springs area of Kent County in 1927 arriving in Halifax on April 14. His sons, Jim and Stan, were both in the RCAF in World War 2. John WIld belonged to the Corps of Commissionaires in his retirement years and worked at the Cedar Springs Hospital. He passed away April 9, 1987 and is buried in Craford Cemetery, Raleigh Township, Kent County, Ontario.”
