James was born in Bournemouth, England on August 5, 1922. Next of kin were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John and Annie Wild. He had a brother Stan.
Address at enlistment was R.R. #1 Blenheim with date of enlistment as July 11, 1942.
James served in Canada, England and Europe. His date of discharge was September 1945 at Moncton, New Brunswick.
Date of Death: April 16, 2000. He is buried at Craford Cemetery in Cedar Springs, Ontario.
James’ sister-in-law writes: “James Wild enlisted in the RCAF July 11, 1941. He received training as an air engine mechanic at St. Thomas; he attended #3 Initial Air Training at Victoriaville, Quebec. He went to Elementary Training School at Oshawa and #4 Bombing and Gunnery School at Fingal. He studied navigation at Malton. Overseas he received operation training flying Wellington bombers at Lassiemouth, Scotland. He received operations training on Halifax bombers at Rufforth, Yorksthire and Full Sutton, Humberside and pathfinder training on Lancasters at Warboys and Graverly, England. He was on numerous bombing raids over France and Germany particularly Hamburg and the Ruhr Valley of Germany. He was discharged from the RCAF September 1945 in Moncton, New Brunswick. He taught carpentry at High Schools after the war in Ingersoll, Wallaceburg, Tilbury and Blenheim.”
