Attestation: at St. Thomas, ON.,14/12/15, Age: 19 yrs. 11 months. Height: 5’ 9”, Girth: 36”, Complexion: Fair, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Black. Fit for service: 11/01/15. Transferred to 186th for O/S duty 28/02/16.    

 Private George L. Whittington trained six months with the 24th Regiment, Home Guards, at Blenheim, Ontario.

Private George L. Whittington transferred from the 91st Battalion and secured his first class certificate at the Signal School, London. As signaller, he went overseas with the 186th Battalion, and took a special course in Signalling at Shoreham-by Sea, proceeding to France January 3rd, 1918, attached to the 1st Battalion.

George went overseas aboard the S.S. Lapland sailing out of Halifax 28/03/17 and arrived in England 7/04/17.

Conv. WOODCOTE – EPSON  31/03/19 – Discharged

He was WIA with the 1st. Batt. in France GSW wound to the left Elbow  and came down with Scabies 1/01/19 at Halbourn Military Hospital  and was cured and he released leased 31/03/19 with the 4th Reserve.

Embarked aboard the S.S. Saturnia departed Glasgow 11/05/19. 

George was discharged from service 23/05/1919.
