Born in England but lived in Chatham, ON. The son of Mrs. Rena White of Windsor, ON., formerly of Chatham, ON., brother of Fredeena RCAF(WD).
Jack enlisted in May of 1940 in London, ON. with the 1st Hussars. Jack was reported as MIA 25/07/44 and by way of a letter dated 22/08/44 reported as KIA. In fact he was neither. His tank had been blown up in action with the enemy and Jack suffered wounds to his face and foot. He was taken as a POW and shipped to a hospital in Paris, reported in a cable 11/09/44. He had not healed before Paris was liberated and he was invalided to hospital in England much better than being sent to a POW camp. CDN 26/09/44.
