Private Westwood enlisted for service in the South African War but was not called due to demobilization.
He served with the RCR one and a half years, and later three years, receiving his discharge in May 1908.
He left for overseas with the 33rd battalion Mar. 17, 1916, proceeding to France June 8, drafted to the 7th Canadian Battalion.
His number was later given as 491313, when reported killed in action Sept. 27, 1916.
