Private John F. West trained during the summer vacation with the Toronto University Corps, Niagara.
Private John F. West enlisted in 238th Forestry Battalion at Toronto and Sept 1916 left Halifax for England and was stationed at Witley Camp. In Nov he transferred to 14th Forestry Corps and left Southampton for France, being sent to Bois Normond about 45 miles S.W. of Rouen where he worked with his unit until he received demobilization orders Dec 3rd 1918 and left for Etaples where he remained ten days, he then transferred to Sunningdale, England where he remained until Jan 14th 1919 when he was sent to Rhyl till Feb 16th when he embarked for Halifax which place he reached Feb 25th, 1919.
Discharged at London March 21st due to demobilization.
