Trooper Lawrence Grant Wells embarked for overseas in July, 1916, transferring to Lord Strathcona’s Horse, Shorncliffe. After a Machine Gun course at Crowborough, he proceeded to France in April, 1917, attached to the 1st Cavalry Brigade, Machine Gun Section.
