The Only son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wellington, 30 Hyslop St., Chatham. He was raised in Chatham, attending Queen Mary School. He was employed at the American Pad and Textile Company. He originally enlisted with the First Kent Regt. He trained in Halifax, New Westminster, BC. He went overseas in May of 1943, age 26 years.
Previous Military Experience… Served with the Kent Regiment
History After Enlistment… Served with the Kents in Canada and later transferred to the Essex Scottish Regiment and went overseas. Served a year in England and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
A cable received by his parents and reported in the CDN 4/04/44 reporting that Clarence was seriously ill with pericarditis and was confined to hospital in England.
Date of Discharge… July 3rd 1944
Clarence Edward passed away 20/06/84.
