Private J.A.Weldon trained at Camp Hughes, was promoted to Lance Corporal, and went overseas October 22nd, 1916. He was stationed at Seaford, entered the Cadet School, and crossed to France as Lieutenant in June 1917 with the 78th Battalion. He served as Scout Officer, and in March 1918, won the Military Cross:

Later information – France May 1917 to Aug 14th 1918 with 78th Battalion Canadian. a) La Coullette-) Lens c) Passchendaele ( as platoon officer) (2) Avian Hill, 70 Area-Arras and Amiens.3) wounded at Amiens in face-to hospital England. 4) Returned to 78th Battalion Oct 13 1918 to Jan 15th 1919( Was Capt & Intelligence Officer) Jan 15th/19 Coy Command to return to Canada. June 1919.
