Sailed from Montreal – aboard S. S. Scandinavian 17/07/15 with 33rd Batt – “Left under sealed orders.” 28/06/15 TOS 2 Coy. Shorncliff – Drafted to France 

Theatre: France, 23/08/15 date of service. It was reported that Frederick was evacuated by No.2 Cdn. Field Ambulance 30/01/16. Transferred to No.1 Field Ambulance “Acute Arthritis – Left Knee.

Pte. F. J. Watson was awarded the Military Medal – in France 26/04/16. He also received the 1914 – 15 Star.  

 CDP 15/11/16 Reported KIA,3/01/17 Confirm KIA 8/01/17 Report of death, 22/04/18 Biography. In fact his date of death was 23/09/16It was reported he was WIA and Missing 15/12/16. 10/12/16 “Enquiries have been made as some information received he had Died of Wounds.

At a memorial service at Christ Church, Chatham for Sgt. George Swainsburry and Frederick Watson some light was given to Pte. Watson “for saving the lives of wounded soldiers.

“He went out (during the battle) after all of the stretcher bearers were shot or disabled to rescue some nine wounded men under fire. He and a small number under his example were responsible for saving many.  Chatham news paper not known.

His wife Annie then living at 217 Colborne St., Chatham, received the Memorial Cross  as is widow. His mother Mrs. G. Watson, 27 Evenington Str., Grayhound Road, Hammersmith, London, England.
