Pte. Herbert R. Ward went overseas in November 1914, and proceeded to France in June 1915, attached to the “City of Aberdeen Engineers” an Imperial unit, being returned to the 3rd Battalion in July 1915. He received severe wounds September 9th, 1915, necessitating a plated left leg. After treatment in France at the 13th Stationary Hospital, and the Scottish Section, he was returned to England September 14th, 1915, to the University Was Hospital, Southampton, 9/07/15 – In Hospital – Hilsea. 25/09/15 – Adm. Univ. – Southampton. 2nd. D.W. Regiment: Theatre: England – C.A.V.C., No. 2 – Veterinary Hospital 6 Nov. 1915 :- Royal Victoria Hosp., Netley Ex. – Facture:- L.
