Private Charles William Ward left for overseas with the 70th Battalion April 21st, 1916, and was stationed at Quested farm,. Cheriton Camp, Dibgate, and with the 39th Reserve Battalion at West Sandling, but being over age and unfit for service was sent to the discharge depot at Shoreham, leaving for Canada the latter part of November 1916, and arriving at Halifax December 3rd, and at Chatham December 11th, 1916.
Private Charles William Ward received his discharge June 19th, 1917, being medically unfit for military service.
