Unit # RCAF

Born 3/06/1915 in Merlin, Kent Co., ON.; the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ward of Fort St., Tilbury. It was in Tilbury where he learned to play the piano and organ. Enlisted in 1942 with the RCAF, in June of 1942 Arthur was given a two week furlough from Halifax, NS., to visit his parents. He would be posted to London, England.

It was reported that Arthur arrived safely overseas in England. TT 2/07/42.His love of music, art and the theatre flourished while in London. This led to post-war studies in London as an organ student where he received the Fellowship Diploma from the Royal College of Organists. Returning to Canada, he began his musical career at Christ Church Elbow Park where he met Betty Calvert as a choir member, and where they were married in December, 1959.

Arthur passed away 27 September, 2009 at the age of 94 years.
