A farmer,  (Vaccination 31/01/16 / & Inoculation 5/02/16 – OK 21/10/16. Physical development – Perfect. To 70th O/S. Age: 19 yrs. Height: 5’ 8”, Girth: 36” Complexion Fair, Eyes Blue, Hair: Dark Brown, Weight 156 #. Medical ar Alvinston, ON. 18/10/15  Next of Kin Miss D. Walkinghood (sister) of Northwood, ON. A single farmer living at his sister’s home. It was noted that his Next Of Kin: Christopher Walkinghood; RNS at R. R. #1, Thamesville, ON.  

Attestation: 15 October, 1915 at Alvinston, ON. to the 70th Bn. Later transferring to the 5th CMR. It was reported that Pte. Walkinghood had suffered a fractured skull 7/01/16 and was treated at Victoria Hospital, London, ON. He was operated in 7/12/15.    

Sailed from Halifax, NS. 24/04/16 aboard the S.S. Lapland.

Landed in France 4/06/16 and taken on Strength with the 5th Cdn. Mounted Rifles, 7/06/16 Theatre: France. DOW: – 16/09/16. He was taken on by No. 3 Casualty Clearing Station 16//09/16 near Rouen, France – “Wounds received in action.”

To: Christopher Walkinghood, Croton, ON.

“Deeply regret to inform you that 124130, Pte. Fred Eugene Walkinghood, died of wounds in the 3rd Casualty Clearing Station on 13 Sept., 1916. 

Fred went to France with the Canadian Mounted Rifles, “about the first week in June. Prior to his enlistment Freddie had been living with his father prior to enlisting.

Mr. C. Walkinghood of Thamesville, ON. R.R. 1, Kent Co. the Memorial Scroll 25/01/21 and the Memorial Plaque received 8/02/1922.
