Walker, Norman Ernest (N.E.) Photo

Norman was born in Wardsville, Ontario on March 21, 1916.

Enlisted in 1941-1942.

Norman lived in Tilbury Ontario when he enlisted at Camp Borden for training.  He spent most of his service time returning recruits who went AWOL.  He never left the Country.

Norman’s Daughter, Wendy Francis, writes:
My Dad was definitely influenced by the long military tradition in his family.  My Dad’s grandfather Henry, was born at sea in Antigua in 1836 aboard a British naval ship who was taking his father, Lieutenant John Walker (enlisted in the 74th Regiment in Ireland) to oversee the new barracks in the West Indies.  Only Officers were allowed to take wives and family and although John and Henry returned to Canada in 1846, Henry’s mother and 4 older children died of yellow fever and are buried in the West Indies.
