Son of Mrs. May Wain of “The Nook”, Bowere Mount Rd., Maidstone, Kent, England. A single Chauffeur living at 15 Elm St., Chatham, ON. Attestation: 27/01/1915 at Chatham, ON. to the 7th CMR.

Went to the 91st Bn and transferred to the 186th, embarking for overseas 26/03/1917. Trained at Bramshott in England until crossing over to France 24/08/17 attached to the 18th Bn. Stan was admitted to hospital in France suffering from trench fever, he was transferred from there to 2nd Southern General Hospital, Bristol, England and from there to convalence at Wokingham. After recovering he was sent to Bramshott as a bombing instructor. Later he was transferred to Witley in England and to the Royal air Force where he obtained a temporary commission.

Sidney was discharged at London, ON. 22/02/1919 due to demobilization. Stan returned to Chatham where he was employed in the Customs Office for twenty one years. He passed away 25/04/1942 after a fourteen months of illness at his home at 188 Inches Ave., Chatham. He was afforded a military escot for his funeral from No.12 Basic Training Camp in Chatham and a military burial and Last Post at the gravesite by Pte. Roy Seymour in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, ON.
