Born in Wallaceburg, Angus attended Our Lady of Help separate school. He was married, his wife was residing in Saskatchewan. His parents were living in St. Catherines, ON. His brother Marti was living in Windsor.The Wallaceburg News 4/05/44 reported that Angus had enlisted in early in the war at No.1 District Depot, London, ON. in January 1940. Did his basic Training at No.12. BTC – Chatham and then to the RCR.
After going overseas in May of 1940, with a re-enforcement unit, he was attached to C.I.R.U. for additional training. He was serving with the RCR in Italy . “On or about” 10 January, 1944 he was WIA. It was reported that he had rejoined his unit. Details of the award had not been received, it was however the second soldier from Wallaceburg to be so honoured.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. MacGregor received word that their former employee had been wounded while fighting in Italy. He was wounded on 20 December effecting a crossing of the Moro River and the taking of Ortono on Christmas Day he was aboard a hospital ship whose destination was unknown. His injury came from a German artillery shell on or about 10 January, 1944 that exploded against the parapet of the trench he was sharing with a fellow soldier. The other man lost two fingers from the shrapnel and Angus was was hit in the arm and shoulder. WN 17/02/44
