Son of Edwin H. and Lila Walls Tromanhauser; husband of Ethel May, Tromanhauser, of Chatham, Ontario.

Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown). Edwin would re-enlist the Royal Canadian Engineers.

Tromanhauser and his family came to Chatham in 1938 from Toronto and he had been employed by the Union Gas Co. in Chatham prior to the war. He enlisted  5 August,1940 with the RCE, after a years training Edwin went overseas in July of 1941, serving overseas for four years. He saw action in France (D-Day plus four), Belgium and Germany all with the RCE. In July of 1945 L/Cpl. Tromanhauser was confined to a military hospital in Belgium but when last heard from by his wife, he had been transferred to a hospital in France and was expected to return home within a month.  His wife Ethel and their four children, Teddy, Harvey, Carol and Dennis were living at 300 Park St., Chatham.
