Private James Wilfred Thomas deserted from the 186th. Battalion but was reinstated with a Forestry Draft in Ottawa going overseas about the first of December 1917. After training at Shorncliffe he crossed to France March 12th, 1918, attached to the 44th. Forestry Battalion.
