Born on Walpole Island Indian Reserve, the son of Charles and Gertrude Thomas. His early childhood was spent in Dutton, ON. with his sisters Cora and Freda, when his father died he moved to Wheatley, ON. and lived with the Hickson family. Amos joined the army serving with the Irish Regiment of Canada in WWII and was wounded. While recuperating from his wounds he married a Dutch girl Hendrika de Lange. After the war he returned to Wheatley, where he and Hendrike raise their five children. Amos died in October 1996 after a seven year illness.
