Lieutenant Taylor served with the 24th Kent Regiment; qualified as Lieutenant and Captain, also in special courses of Bombing, Musketry, Machine Gun, Map Reading, and Bayonet Fighting.
He was appointed Lieutenant in D Company on formation of the 91st battalion CEF and transferred to the 186th battalion with the Kent members of the 91st when the formation of the 186th battalion was authorised.
He left Halifax for overseas Mar. 26, 1917, and after a period of training at Officers’ Training Schools at Bexhill-on-sea proceeded to France Aug. 6, an officer in the famous First Canadian Battalion, First Canadian Division.
He served in this unit until the time of his death which occurred Apr. 9, 1918, as a result of shrapnel wounds received at Telegraph Hill Apr. 6.
