Embarked S.S. Carpathia 17/05/15 and disembarked 28/05/15 at England. Embarked for France 14/09/15.
Landed in France – 15/09/15. Granted a eight day leave 3/06/15. Was a Driver with ‘Bordons Armoured Battery”. “On the morning of 20/02/16 Dvr. Taylor was on duty on one of the anti-air craft machine guns when firing at an aeroplane the spring on the firing-pin broke causing entry to his right arm. The soldier was injured – no way to blame”.

The son of the late Mr. Justice George L. Taylor. Born in Bothwell P.S. Attended the Whitehouse, St, Andrew’s Collage. Applied Science 1910-14. B.A.S.C. (Mining Engineer) at Porcupine, YK.
Enlisted in January 1915 in Borden Motor Battery and went overseas in May. In March 1916 John was accidentally wounded by the explosion of a shell casing an recovered. He fell at Courcelette, being struck in the head by a shell fragment as he was serving a gun which he had volunteered to take after it had been sighted by the enemy.
Buried at point R29.C.6. 7 near Courcelette. He had been recommended for a commission shortly before his death.
