Son of Walter (a veteran of the Great War) and Kathleen Taylor; husband of Irene Taylor, of 177 Edgar St,Chatham, Ontario; the brother of Norman. husband of Irene Taylor, of 61 Dover Street, Chatham, Ontario, they had two children Judy and Joan, they had been married for five years. Prior to his enlistment he was employed at the Chatham Manufacturing Company and International Harvester.
Douglas enlisted in October of 1943 at London, ON., attached to the 1st Engineers. He trained in North Bay, ON. and in Quebec. He went overseas in July of 1944 attached to the Highland Light Infantry as a reinforcement. He proceeded directly to France and had been in the battle line on the western front ever since. CDN 15/03/45 & 27/03/45(P).
Age: 27, KIA – Date of Death: 03/03/1945, in Germany.
