The son of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Stuart of  Elgin St., Wallaceburg. 

He was serving in North Africa in 1943 and was reported as WIA a leg wound WN 11/11/43.  He was returned to ‘active service’ WN 23/03/44.

The WN 6/08/42 in their section “From Boys Overseas” published the following letter as follows:

England 7/07/42

Wallaceburg News,

Wallaceburg, Ont 

Dear Sirs,

I take great pleasure in thanking you from the bottom of my heart for sending me the weekly paper.

It really does a man good to know what is going on in the old home town. I also wish to thank all my friends for the cigarettes they have sen me over here a man is completely lost without his smokes. There is really not much that I can tell you at present so I had better sign off

Jack Stuart.

The WN 12/08/43 reported that Jack was serving in a Canadian infantry battalion (Highland Light Infantry) in North Africa. He was married only a few week ago in England.

The WN 11/11/43 reported that Jack had suffered a serious leg wound on 2 October, 1943 while serving in Italy serving with the RCR. He was at the 48th General Hospital for care
