Born 19 March, 1922 in Blenheim, ON. the son of William James Stewart and Ethel May Stewart, of Blenheim, Ontario, Canada.

Age: 21, KIA – Date of Death: 23/09/1943. Flying in a Halifax bomber # DK 271 on night Air Ops.,  target Mannheim, Germany went missing over target 23/09/43. Others killed WO2(BA) F. P. Sharpe, FS. N. L. Reed and F/O R. T. Zdan. Two other Canadians, F/L J. I. Davies, Sgt. G. R. Annand and one of the crew not Canadian were taken POW. 

Verne is buried at RHEINBERG War Cemetery, Nordheim-Westfalen, Germany.
