Lieut. Commander was home from Colma California on furlough after “prolonged service in the Pacific with the US Navy.
This was his first meeting with Mrs. Steinke (nee Dorothy Lauriston) and their three children since he had left Hawaii in February following the Pearl Harbour raid.
