Son of Mrs. L. Steinbuckle of Chatham, ON. From the 3rd Concession, Harwich Twsp., Kent Co., Kent Co., ON. A graduate of the University of Toronto and proceeded overseas.
He went overseas in May of 1942 as a Lieutenant with the Canadian Armoured Corps. In November of 1942 Lieut. Steinbuckle was and saw action in Sicily and Italy for over a year before being sent back to England from there we would go to Normandy shortly after D-Day. Then attached to Headquarters Intelligence of the Canadian Armoured Brigade he was promoted to the rank of Captain. CDN 14/12/44(P) Reported returning from overseas duty aboard the Queen Mary, expected to dock in New York. CDN 11/07/45.
