The son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Stanton of 159 Selkirk St., Chatham, ON. Edgar enlisted as a signaller 27/11/42 and went overseas nine months later after training at Windsor, Stratford, Ipperwas and Kingston. He was serving in Italy with the Irish regt of Canada and was reported wounded in action 25/05/44 while serving in Italy during the crossing of the Malfa River during the Liri Valley Campaign.
