N of K: Mrs. Millie Ackroyd, 24 Rossary Terrace, Holgate Road, York, England. The brother of Thomas Arthur Speller (123712 / 845308 /  401724). He and his brother came to Canada in 1910 as a Bernardo Boy on the ship “Tunisian” with Dr. Bernardo’s party landing in Toronto.  

A Liveryman by trade. Single, Had served with the 24th Kent Regt. Age: 18 years 10 months, Height: 5’ 4”, Girth: 34” , Complexion: Clear & Fair, Eyes: Blue, Hair: Light Brown, Weight: 110 #. Medical  was “Fit”, 20/09/15 at Dresden, ON.  

Taken on to the 70th Batt., for over seas 24/04/16 with the Signals Section. He arrived in England 5/05/1916. Stationed at Moore Barracks, Sea Cliff.

Here he was admitted to hospital for Boils on his face 17/09/16 and Discharged 27/09/16.

He went overseas to France with the 8th Batt. Cdn. Inf. 18/05/17. He had a brother: Alfred Speller, 137 Roding Road, Clapton Park, London, England. 

Reported as Missing In Action 5/08/17 – (ALSO DATE OF DEATH) Wounded – Missing after actions.  6/02/18 to 11/02/18  who was Previously reported Missing was now for all reasons Killed in Action. 

Remembered on the Vimy Memorial  – NO KNOWN GRAVE.
