Private Samuel Southgate trained at London and Quebec, leaving for overseas March 17th, 1916, with the 33rd. Battalion. After training on St. Martin’s Plains, and transferring to West Sandling, he was invalided to Canada, due to an accident received at Quebec.

Private Samuel Southgate received his discharge September 2nd, 1916, being medically unfit for active service.
