It was reported in the CDN 15/07/42 that Joseph enlisted in the RCAF at No.9 RCAF Recruiting Centre at London, ON.

The Wallaceburg News reported that AC2 Southgate was stationed at No.6 RD, RCAF Trenton, ON.The WN 25/02/43 reported That Joseph was stationed at RCAF-Manning Pool- Toronto.
