Private Snowden trained with the Wallaceburg Home Guards from their organization until his enlistment.
He left for overseas with the 70th battalion Apr. 21, 1917, and arrived in England May 5.
He was transferred to the 58th battalion, France, and served but three months in the trenches when he was killed in action Aug. 19, 1916, while eating supper. He was buried with full military honors near Ypres.
