Private Orval Smith trained with the 186th. Battalion in Canada, and left for overseas March 26th, 1917. He was stationed at Bramshott Camp until August 25th, 1917, when he proceeded to France to the 18th. Battalion. At Passchendaele, November 10th, 1917, he was taken prisoner by the Germans and retained until after the Armistice was signed. He was returned to England December 10th, 1918.
