Lieutenant Melvin R. Sloan joined 186th Battalion December 1915 at Chatham and after training in Canada proceeded overseas with that unit March 1917 and joined the 4th Res Battalion, when he proceeded to France he was transferred to 18th Battalion. He was wounded at Lens August 16th, 1917 and promoted to Captain August 24th 1918, he served through all the principal engagements and was awarded the Military Cross.
Captain M. E. Sloan was struck off the strength may 25th 1919 due to demobilisation.
