The son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Simpson of Dresden. The DT 3/04/41 reported tha Pte. Simpson of the Algonquin Regt at Port Arthur, ON. (now Thunder Bay) was at home on a weeks leave. The DT 8/07/43 reported that L/Cpl. Simpson had been spending two weeks with his parents. Then stationed in Newfoundland where he had been for the most of the year. “It’s a pretty lonely place.’ he reported.
“there are many Canadian and American troops stationed there but each army has their own camps and the troops do not get much chance to fraternize”.
Served in Newfoundland and Great Britain.
