Born in England in 1921. The husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Trudell) whom had three daughters; Sandy (Shuian), Mary Lou (Dugas), Becky (Bechard). The only son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Simpson of 102 Park Avenue.
Prior to enlisting in the RCNVR, Kenneth enlisted in the Army as a Pte. A470229, 2nd Bn. Kent Regt.
Kenneth entered service with the 2nd Kent Regt. Transferred to the RCNVR, at the age of 20 years in May 1942. He reported to HMCS Hunter at the age of twenty in May 1942, in Windsor to begin his training as a signaller. CDN 10/07/42 Signalman Simpson returned to the east coast after a ten day leave with his parents. He was accompanied by his wife and son. She was taken up residence in Oshawa for the duration. The CDN 24/06/43 reported that Sigmn. had arrived home from overseas to spend a twenty-eight day furlough with his wife and son and his parents. It was reported that Signalman Simpson was on a 28 day leave in February of 1944 to visit his wife and baby son in Chatham. CDN 18/02/44(P)
Kenneth did 2 cruises overseas and one by way of the Panama Canal to Vancouver, BC. He served for eighteen months aboard a minesweeper, where he was promoted to Signalman.
He was discharged from the Navy in September of 1945.
Received the Atlantic Star, 1939-45 Star the C.V.S.M.
