Unit # Canadian Armoured Corps

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Simons of Cedar Springs, Kent Co., ON. He attended public school in Cedar Springs. As a young boy Philip delivered the Chatham Daily News to customers at Erie Beach and Highbanks. He also worked at the V. G. McGuigan farm prior to enlistment.

Philip enlisted at Windsor, ON. 11/03/1943 and did his Basic Training at BTC12 in Chatham and then went to Camp Bordon for armoured training. It was reported that Philip was wounded in the face and forehead by shell fragments during fighting in Holland and had been hospitalized.  It was reported in the CDN 5/03/45(P) that Philip was in hospital but gave no details to the extent of his injuries.
