Born in Canada he moved to the United States with his parents both had died. He attended Romulus Grade School and Ann Arbor High School in Michigan. The grandson of Mrs. Elizabeth Shreve of North Buxton.

Esmond, stationed at Toronto was from North Buxton. He was reported home on leave to visit his family. CDN 4/06/42  The 24 year old grandson of Mrs. Elizabeth Shreve of North Buxton, Kent Co., ON.  Prior to his enlistment he was a porter with the CNR.

Robert had enlisted at Toronto, ON. in April 1942 and went overseas in December of 1942.

The CDN 19/09/44 reported the Pte. R. E. Shreve had been wounded 8 Sep. 1944 while serving in France. The CDN 7/10/44(P) reported that he was WI
